For Jon, it all started in the kitchen.
After years working as a chef in restaurants across London and Surrey, he learnt that great food comes down to good ingredients and paying attention to the little things. That same approach naturally carried over into coffee.
What started as an interest soon became an obsession. Learning about different coffees, experimenting with roasting and trying beans from all over the world quickly turned into something more than a hobby.
Before long, Jon and his business partner Chris decided to start 172 Coffee Roasters.
The idea was simple. Roast coffee they genuinely enjoyed drinking and share it with other people who appreciate good coffee.
Today, every batch is still hand roasted in Godalming, Surrey.
Whether it's Espresso Wings, one of our single origins or our organic decaf, we only sell coffees we're proud to put our name on.
Jon still does the roasting, while Chris keeps everything else moving behind the scenes.
We're a small independent roastery, and we like it that way.
